Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a branch that has gained great importance and put to practice in the most effective way making LIVE 100 Hospital an exclusive and unique healthcare center in India where there is high success rate obtained through the regenerative medicine treatment. Regenerative medicine has got generated out of translational research in tissue engineering and molecular biology. It deals with the "process of replacing, engineering or regenerating human cells, tissues or organs to restore or establish normal functioning".

The two ways of Regenerative medicine practised at LIVE 100 Hospital are:

  1. Stem Cell Therapy
  2. Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)
Have you ever thought that your damaged body part can be regenerated?

STEM CELL THERAPY is the most innovative & scientific way to treat and prevent any disease or degenerative condition. Stem cell treatment is effectively used for neurodegenerative diseases, e.g. Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, Brain and Spinal Cord injury, Diabetes, Wound healing and Orthopaedic conditions using Adult Autologous Mesenchymal Cells (from the patient’s own cells eliminating the risk of rejection).

LIVE 100 Hospital specialised in the following STEM CELL Therapy: Avascular Necrosis of hip, Paraplegia, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Autism to name a few.

Avascular Necrosis of Hip(AVN)

Avascular necrosis (AVN) is the death of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply. It is also called as Osteonecrosis, AVN can lead to tiny breaks in the bone and eventual collapse of bone. The most commonly affected in AVN is the hip and it usually can occur in the age group of 20 to 60 years.

AVN can happen due to (i) joint or bone injury; (ii) excessive drinking; (iii) medications (eg: high dosage of steroids for longer period, drugs like bisphosphonates); (iv) medical conditions (e.g. HIV, Lupus, Diabetes, Sickle cell anaemia) etc.

Paraplegia and Quadriplegia

Paralysis of both the arms and legs get traditionally called as quadriplegia. The main reason or the cause of quadriplegia is a spinal cord injury. Other conditions such as cerebral palsy and strokes can many times appear similar like paralysis.

STEM CELLS can repair damaged spinal cord. STEM CELLS can be directed to differentiate into neurons or glia in vitro, which can be used for replacement of neural cells lost after spinal cord injury (SCI).

Neuroprotective and axon regeneration are also possible with STEM CELLS.

Muscular Dystrophy (MD):

Muscular Dystrophy is a group of muscle diseases that weaken the musculoskeletal system and hamper locomotion. MDs are characterised by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins and the death of muscle cells and tissue.

These conditions are generally inherited and the different MDs follow various inheritance patterns. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common and a very severe form of the disease. Even though it is believed that currently there is no cure for DMD, LIVE 100 Hospital treats such cases with STEM CELLS to strengthen patient’s muscle and improve patients ability to live better and active life.

Stem Cell Therapy produce healthy muscle fibres by delivering STEM CELLS without the genetic defect to patient’s muscles thus generating working muscle fibre to replace the damaged ones. STEM CELLS also help in reducing inflammation which in turn slows down muscle degeneration.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Multiple Sclerosis is a degenerative disease condition in which the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers the nerves. Myelin damage will result in disruption of communication between the brain and rest of the body. Ultimately, the nerves themselves would deteriorate, a process that's currently believed to be irreversible.

LIVE 100 Hospital is a driving force working to stop MS in its tracks, and restore the function that has been lost, and end MS forever. We strongly believe that one of the paths to follow in treating MS is STEM CELLS. It includes adult STEM CELLS that act as “spare parts” inside the body.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

RA is a chronic systemic inflammatory disorder that primarily affects joints. It may result in deformed and painful joints, which can lead to loss of function. STEM CELL Therapy & Immune Modulation offered at LIVE 100 Hospital can control symptoms of RA and can eliminate the use for toxic drugs.

Osteoarthritis (OA)

Osteoarthritis also known as degenerative arthritis or degenerative joint disease is a group of mechanical abnormalities involving degradation of joints, including articular cartilage and subchondral bone. Due to decreased movement secondary to pain, regional muscles may atrophy and ligaments may become more lax.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) or adult patient’s own STEM CELLS are used for treatment of OA in the procedure of LIVE 100 Hospital. This helps the damaged ligament, joint or tendon to regenerate and heal.

Autism is a spectrum of disorders characterised by marked abnormalities and social interactions. Two common consistent findings in children with this disorder are diminished oxygenation in specific areas of the brain and a chronic immunologically mediated inflammatory condition in the gut.

STEM CELL therapy offered at LIVE 100 Hospital addresses the issue at its core; it initiates a repair process in the affected parts of the brain. Stem cell therapy helps regulate the immune system possibly reverse inflammatory conditions in some cases. STEM CELL therapy in association with occupational therapy e.g. speech therapy, psychological counseling, have proven to be most effective in improving the quality of life in children affected with autism.

Do you know there is no delay in wound healing even if you are a Diabetic?

Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)

LIVE 100 Hospital is expertised in using PDGF (Platelet derived growth factor) in the following:

Bone Healing (Osteogenic) & Blood Vessel Growth (Angiogenesis):

PDGF is known as one of the numerous growth factors, or proteins that regulate cell growth and division. It plays a significant role in blood vessel formation (angiogenesis). It is the growth of blood vessels that happen from already existing blood vessel tissue. PDGF thus is a required element in cellular division for fibroblasts, a type of connective tissue cell that is specially prevalent in wound healing.

Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Diabetes and wounds always make to be a bad combination. LIVE 100 Hospital provide you solutions with the new innovative methods of treatment help avoid amputation. It is a known fact that no matter how small or even superficial a wound is, one should not ignore it if he/she has diabetes.

Diabetic foot ulcers are notoriously difficult to heal and has been frustrating. Doctors feel by their experiences that large number of diabetic foot ulcers remain unresponsive to standard wound care and ultimately lead to amputation in most patients. Local use of rh-PDGF has shown diabetic wound to heal in 2 to 12 weeks depending on the severity and size of the ulcer. PDGF procedure followed at LIVE 100 Hospital helps in eliminating the need for amputation in many a cases.

Venous Ulcers

Venous ulcers are wounds that occur due to improper functioning of venous valves. Venous leg ulcers are common in older people (Age related or Injury). They are in general majorly occurring chronic wounds, occurring in 70% to 90% of leg ulcer cases. Venous ulcers develop mostly along the medial distal leg and can be very painful.

At LIVE 100 Hospital, PDGF that is known to play an important role is applied in the treatment of venous ulcers, that improves blood flow and induce good granulation tissue and ultimately epithelialization.

Shoulder Impingement Syndrome (Tendonitis)

Shoulder impingement syndrome, also called subacromial or rotator cuff impingement or painful arc syndrome, is a clinical syndrome which occurs when the tendons of the rotator cuff muscle become irritated and inflamed as they pass through the subacromial space, the passage beneath the acromion.

In the treatment procedure at LIVE 100 Hospital, Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is made from patient’s own blood, which makes rejection or adverse reaction unlikely. It can be prepared immediately at the point of care which makes it simple, less expensive and fast. PRP is known to control inflammatory reactions and thus improve tissue healing and regeneration WITHOUT the need of any surgical intervention.

Skin and Hair

First "aging" sign is visible through wrinkling of skin or greying of hair. Everyone desires to keep their skin beautiful and their hair soft and healthy. We always hope for wrinkle free Skin and grey hair free scalp. Getting skin to wrinkle or hair to grey generally is sure, but, nobody desires them prematurely!)

It is going to be something amazing when such skin and hair deficiencies are treated at LIVE 100 Hospital using Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF). Cosmetic deficiencies related to skin and hair used to bother any individual earlier and not any more. All such concerns in terms of cosmetic defects or hair loss are treated by Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) at LIVE 100 Hospital.
